| Living Holistically
[Please note: Workshops will be held on this and other related topics at Mabou Ridge Centre in the summer months.]
It's admittedly difficult to keep in touch with our wholeness of body, mind and spirit in busy lives of constant, and frequently conflicting, activities of work, travel, and consumerism. Healthcare in the western world is also offered in a dislocated way. We are given solutions for a headache, or a particular pain, by a remedy, which resolves the problem in question, but takes no account of the whole bodys balance. Mabou Ridge Centre for Holistic Living wishes to emphasize rhythm and balance. Here, you will experience the flow of the seasons, organically grown produce, natural fibre products, nature walks through woods and fields, and workshops, where natural processes and opportunities for relaxation happen.
When we are living in balance, our bodies will tell us when we need to rest, to walk, to eat or to sleep. We also become sensitive to what is good or "right" for us to eat, and what is not. We will find more energy, better sleep, a sharper mind, and fewer healthcare problems. This mode of living is also in harmony with our bodys own energy system. We become sensitive to the constant flow of interchange between the environment and ourselves.
We are most alive and well when we perceive that we are part of a universe in which the health and well-being of all is affected by everything we do. It follows that healthy living with sustainable, responsible, and beneficent practices will have a positive ripple effect throughout our life, our friends and family, our community, and the world. Conversely, harm and destruction have the same ripple effect with negative outcomes. We frequently don't appreciate or make ourselves conscious of just how big that ripple either positive or negative has spread as a result of our own actions. For these reasons it's important that we live in mindfulness of ourselves and others, and to live a philosophy of wholeness and balance.
