Dyeing
Dyeing can be done just after washing or spinning, depending on the type of characteristics you would like your finished yarn to have. For a basic dye, we recommend dyeing after washing. The possibilities for specialty and hand-painted dyes could easily fill a book; please call us for any special requests you might have.
Mabou Ridge uses Cushings Perfection Acid Dyes which are designed specifically for protein fibres such as llama, alpaca, mohair, and wool. These dyes produce uniform, vibrant results. The word "acid" means only that vinegar is added during the dyeing process. We are certainly amenable to using and do use natural dyes; please call us with any requests.
The following is our basic dye set, but we can custom order colours available through Cushings (or elsewhere of your choice) if desired. Please note that the following colours may appear differently from one computer screen to the next.
