Shearing Sheep | Shearing the Sheep (or Angora Goat)
12. Last or "whipping" side: Pull the sheep upright with its head between your legs. Make two strokes from the shoulder, in a diagonal fashion, to the hock, and the last stroke down the line of the hock being careful of joints.
Step back slightly and allow the sheep to lie well on its left side. Press into the flank so the hind leg is straightened. The remainder of the wool is removed in this position and falls clear in one piece.
In larger operations, the fleece would be picked up by a helping hand, skirted, rolled, and sent to wool classers for classing.
