Shearing Sheep | Shearing the Sheep (or Angora Goat)
2. Crotch or crutch: Allow the sheep to drop back slightly while still supporting the shoulders with your knees. With your free hand, stretch the skin and straighten the sheeps back legs if necessary. Again, enter with your comb flat, stroke down the right leg, then back up over the stifle (knee) and around, taking care not to cut the hamstrings, hocks, pizzle or teats (shear from the side around these). The third stroke should remove remaining wool on the inside of the back legs. If more comfortable, feel free to make two strokes down each leg. It is imperative to always protect the pizzle and teats with your spare hand. Nicks are one thing a cut pizzle or teat is NEVER acceptable.
