Shearing Sheep | Shearing the Sheep (or Angora Goat)

Shearing the neck and head6. Neck and head: The neck wool of the sheep is exposed and opened by gently grasping the jaw with your fingers (or pushing it back with your palm), pulling its head backward with the sheep leaning out and around your left thigh and knee to offer them balance. Start your first stroke with the comb flat and close to the skin at the brisket. Take two more quick strokes a few inches up the neck and into the shoulder. Take the fourth stroke from the neck straight up to the throat. Start back down at the neck again and up over the cheek. A few more strokes will clear the cheek and ear and behind the head. As you’re moving to the back of the neck, be sure to rotate your wrist to keep the comb flat. It’s important to remove as much wool on the shoulder and neck area as possible.
