Spinning Prices for spinning into yarn include picking, carding, drafting, and the spinning itself. Prices are based on the number of ply and the finished weight. They also include winding into skeins or cones. Please let us know ahead of time which you prefer, and in what lengths or weights (4oz skeins is standard, but we will accommodate specific requests). Prices do not include charges for washing or dyeing.
While our state-of-the-art system is designed to make a semi-worsted yarn, it also gives us the ability to produce yarns with either woolen or worsted characteristics. It will deal easily with staple lengths between 3 to 8 inches and our naturally-balanced plied yarn always possesses the best handling qualities possible for your type of fibre.
Only mild, certified organic detergents and conditioners are used throughout the process. We take a great deal of pride in protecting your fibre and the environment.
If you have a specific weight of yarn in mind for spinning, please be sure to include a sample with your order. While there are many conventions for naming yarn weights, the following is a Standard Yarn Weight System (found at YarnStandards.com) that we use for describing weights:

Blending
Blending for yarn can be done at any stage in the process, but the earlier in the process the blending is done, the more complete the blend. When done at the picking stage, for example, differently coloured fibres will will have a more complete blend and will appear more heterogeneous. When done at the carding stage, colours appear more motled. Blending differently-coloured rovings at the drafting stage can create a nice semi-variegated look, while blending differently-coloured plies at the spinning stage will create a defined variegated look.
We can also combine different fibers to make a unique blend for you. These can be your own or we can provide wool, llama, alpaca, and mohair for blending with yours. Prices vary for the type of fibre.
