Llama Trekking | Menus At the heart of Mabou Ridge Centre for Holistic Living is healthy and wholesome living. An important component is eating a well-balanced meal of nutritional foods which have not been heavily or chemically processed, and which are made from organically grown and prepared ingredients. Menus for llama treks are planned to provide energy for walking, and give satisfaction without feeling heavy or bloated afterwards. Fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade bread and rolls, baked bannoch, muffins and cookies, and juice, coffee and tea are included in most menus. Every effort is made to purchase organic ingredients, and to avoid precooked meal items and snacks, which include preservatives. If meat is included, vegetarian alternatives are provided. All meat is purchased from local farmers. Please indicate any special eating requirements when you book your trek. Sample menus Snack (as for The Farm Trek) Warmed samosas, oatmeal cookie, piece of fruit (apple, orange, kiwi), drink of orange, tomato or apple juice, or herbal tea. Lunch (as for The Old Rail Trek) Egg salad or tuna sandwich, oatcakes or muffins, an energy bar, fruit (apple, orange, banana), juice and/or hot thermos herbal tea or coffee. Packed Meal (as for The Ceilidh Trek and The Highland Trek) Hot homemade soup from thermos, chicken or cold meat multi-grain sandwich, muffin or bannoch, fruit, energy bar, juice and/or hot thermos of tea or coffee. |
