The Trans-Canada Trail (the Ceilidh Coastal Trail) crosses Route 19 in Mabou, just before the road enters the village of Mabou by the southwest Mabou River Bridge. The trek will proceed from this point, south along the trail, which is the old rail bed between Port Hawkesbury and Inverness.
The trail is fairly level, and passes through woodlands and meadows, until it winds its way back to Route 19 before the town of Port Hood. Here, trekkers will stop for a snack, before retracing their steps. Your guide will identify local flowers, trees and shrubs as you walk along.
Note: this trail is sometimes a bit muddy after rain. It's important that you wear good walking boots or shoes.
